One Room at a Time: Dining Room

I've decided to post what I've got for photos of the house, as I've got them. I just walked into the spare bedroom and was truly shocked at what I found. I had convinced myself that I had pretty much unpacked, but what I really did was shove everything I didn't know what to do with in the spare bedroom. My mom is coming for a 10-day visit on June 30th, so I've just under two months to get it ship-shape.
I am open to suggestions as to window treatments. I don't want to lose all the great light with blinds, but need some kind of shade against the morning sun.

That's a great room with all of the windows! In our den, we have those shades that are sheer (with a front and back layer), but have cloth blinds inside of them. So, if the sheer is down and the "blinds" are horizontal - you can totally see through the window, but there is still some shading, but you can turn the "blinds" to vertical and then have privacy. We really like it - and it could work? Or, if you only want shading, but don't care about privacy in that part of the house, I would just go for some sheer curtains.
